Neck Liposuction

As one of the first things people notice about us, we try to make sure our face is looking its absolute best. We all aim to look thin and youthful, and a chiseled face can say a lot. It’s a fact: as we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity and youthful, firm looking skin is left looking droopy and wrinkly. One of the first areas of the body that fall victim to this is the neck. A saggy neck can make you look older and change the overall symmetry of your face. Your neck should create a smooth and refined line from your torso to your face, not reveal tell-tale signs of aging. Fortunately, innovations in neck liposuction can provide the perfect solution for those who are looking to improve and shave years of their appearance. Saggy skin and jowls around the neck no longer have to be an embarrassment, as they can easily be corrected through neck liposuction at my Beverly Hills liposuction office.

Recent technology in laser liposuction and especially tumescent liposuction make it possible to target and reshape the neck like never before. Due to the sensitivity of the area, Dr. Amron makes sure to handle your neck liposuction – and any other type of liposuction he performs – in a delicate manner. Under local anesthesia, Dr. Amron uses small cannulas and make only a tiny incision on the surface of the skin that often heals without leaving a scar. The cannula is then moved and manipulated to melt, dissolve, and remove excessive fat around your neck. Dr. Amron may suggest tightening the skin immediately after the neck liposuction treatment to complement your new look and to correct your sagging skin. After about a week of healing, your neck will look more defined, thinner, and much more youthful; former patients often boast that they look and feel 10 years younger after their neck liposculpture surgery.

Dr. Amron approaches neck liposuction in one of two ways:

  1. Submental Liposuction- For those who have fullness only in the middle part of the neck, under the chin (mentum). In these patients, it is not necessary to liposuction the whole neck and access can be from one small incision under the chin.
  2. Entire neck – For those that have fullness of the lateral neck, it is important to liposuction the entire neck up over the jaw line, and sometimes the jowls, to achieve an optimal result. If this patient has only submental liposuction from one midline incision, the central part of the neck will retract without the lateral neck retracting. The results will either look unnatural or incomplete. For these patients, Dr. Amron uses three incision points: one under the chin and one under each earlobe. The worst and unavoidable result of neck liposculpture surgery is having to wear a chin strap for five to seven days full time and another seven to ten days part time. For this reason, unlike other areas where patients can camouflage having had the procedure done under clothing, most patients have to take some off work to recover and heal in private.

In as little as thirty minutes, you can say goodbye to loose, fatty deposits around the neck. In its place will be a toned, youthful looking neck that you no longer have to hide with scarves or jewelry. Post-surgery, I instruct my patients to use a compression bandage around the neck to keep the swelling down and to prevent the incision from opening up. Swelling and bruising at the site of the liposculpture surgery is common, but should go away on its own within a couple days. Recovery time on average is about a week, and the chances of scarring around the neck are extremely minimal, if at all.

Neck liposuction is not for everyone. Due to the invasive nature and possible risks involved in neck liposuction, Dr. Amron makes it a priority to assess all his patients and provides consultation to those interested in the procedure. It is critical to note that liposuction is a procedure for fat removal for certain areas, and is not intended as a weight loss solution, nor is it an alternative to a healthy diet or regular exercise. The ideal candidate is an individual in good health, has firm, elastic skin, and has had no previous surgery on or around the neck area. The said candidate would have a healthy physique and is looking to remove stubborn fat deposits from the neck to create more defined, proportional shape. If you are looking to achieve a firm, toned neck, come in for a consultation with Dr. Amron or contact him (310)275-2467 for a phone consultation to see if you qualify. If you are a good candidate, Dr. Amron can reshape your body and restore your confidence. If you are embarrassed of your jowls or sagging, loose skin in your neck, Dr. Amron can help you embrace your appearance again. Your new body is only a phone call away.
